MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. — June 10, 2013 — Based on its recent analysis of the wastewater treatment market for Canadian oil sands, Frost & Sullivan recognizes Aquatech International Corporation with the 2013 North America Frost & Sullivan Award for New Product Innovation. Aquatech’s innovative, modular evaporator system, SmartMOD™ treats produced water for recycle/reuse for boiler feedwater. This, in turn, will generate steam for the thermal processes used in oil extraction.
The SmartMOD™ evaporator system is uniquely designed and engineered for modularity and is much more compact than the conventional evaporator systems, which helps lower installation costs and improves ease of operation. A major benefit to the industry is the significant reduction in the overall project schedule as the system can be fully operational in approximately six weeks from the system arriving onsite, unlike other conventional systems that take up to six months.
Compared to competing offerings, the system uses less power, which translates into a significant savings in long-term operational costs. Its modular design and configuration also provide more than 75 percent continuous distillate production.
“We are honored to receive this prestigious award,” said Alan R. Daza, P.Eng., Vice President of Sales & Business Development for Aquatech’s Infrastructure and Major Projects division. “The SmartMOD™ evaporator system is a game-changer in the oil sands market, as it reduces total capital and operational costs, saves space, leaves a smaller carbon footprint, and involves shorter installation time. It is completely self-contained and can alter the way that oil and gas companies treat produced water or boiler blow-down treatment.”
“The revolutionary SmartMOD™ evaporator system provides a range of application flexibility over conventional systems, allowing the operator to address multiple industry challenges and realize significant cost-savings,” said Frost & Sullivan Industry Analyst Ankur Jajoo. “It offers the highest return on investment in the market thanks to its cost-saving features, such as a lower center of mass and evaporator weight, which reduce total transportation and freight costs. The system really ticks all the boxes the oil sands market has been seeking to address.”
Each year, Frost & Sullivan presents this award to the company that has developed an innovative element in a product by leveraging leading-edge technologies. The award recognizes the value-added features/benefits of the product and the increased ROI it offers customers, which, in turn, increases customer acquisition and overall market penetration potential.
