PUNE, INDIA, September 20, 2012 – Two teams from Aquatech were awarded Gold Trophies by the Quality Circle Forum of India, Pune Chapter, during its 27th Annual Convention on Quality Concepts (CCQC – 2012).
Both Aquatech teams – Mechanical and Electrical – presented case studies on how they overcame specific problems during IDEA Cycle, a weekly departmental brainstorming session aimed at reaching the root cause of a problem and finding the best solution to address it. Both teams presented their ideas to Forum attendees providing thorough data analysis, evidences of magnitude before and after in terms of increase of customer satisfaction, and appropriate before and after photographs.
In all, more than 100 teams took part in the event and presented case studies on such quality concepts as Quality Circles, TPM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Poka Yoke, SMED, 5 ‘S’, Lean Quality Circles and other allied team concepts. The case studies were categorized under Manufacturing, Support Services (purchase, quality control, maintenance, tool room, stores, etc.), and Pure Services (e.g., banks, insurance, industrial services, government & public services, hospitals, the hospitality industry and IT sector).
Speaking about these awards, Mr. M. N. Rao, Vice President Engineering & Services at Aquatech, said, “I strongly believe that creativity is the real source of competitive advantage. The objectives of this event are to provide recognition and encouragement to members of Quality Concepts; to create a forum for interaction and sharing of knowledge and ideas on Quality Circle and other allied concepts such as TPM, 5’S’, Six Sigma, Kaizen, Poka Yoke, SMED, JIT Kanban; and to enhance understanding of the practical aspects of Quality Concepts. Held each year, it is a platform for presenting the best work done by various quality practicing organizations, and as such, is also an opportunity for all participants to share experiences and learn.
