Congressman Tim Murphy (PA-18) today presented Aquatech International of Canonsburg with the U.S. Commercial Service’s Export Achievement Certificate. The event took place at the Aquatech’s plant and facilities in Canonsburg, PA.
The Export Achievement Award recognizes U.S. companies that have made their first export sale or entered a new overseas market with the assistance from the Department’s U.S. Commercial Service. Aquatech is a small business based in Canonsburg, PA that manufactures industrial water and wastewater treatment systems and equipment.
“Aquatech serves as an excellent example of the caliber of companies we have in our region and that with the right approach and the right assistance our companies can succeed in the global market,” said Murphy. “Aquatech’s contract in Italy is not only good for the company, but is also good for our region.”
With export counseling from U.S. Commercial Service in Pittsburgh, Aquatech learned of export finance options available to them through the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Shortly after securing a $25 million working capital loan from the Ex-Im Bank, guaranteed by PNC Bank, Aquatech was awarded a $75 million project with Enelpower, Italy’s largest electrical power company. The project with Enelpower has enabled Aquatech to add twenty-five new employees.
“Without the cooperation and dedication of all the parties involved, Aquatech may not have been able to participate in this major project with Enelpower. However, with the help of the U.S. Commercial Service, Ex-Im Bank, and PNC, we were able to secure this significant contract,” said Venkee Sharma, President and CEO of Aquatech.
Sharma says that Aquatech will continue to increase their presence in international markets and will continue to utilize U.S. Commercial Service assistance. “When pursuing business in foreign markets, we will continue to work with the U.S. Commercial Service. Their assistance has helped our company grow internationally,” said Sharma.
