TIOGA, PA, USA, April 18, 2013 – Aquatech, a world leader in wastewater treatment recycle and reuse, yesterday celebrated the formal opening of its central water treatment facility in Tioga County, PA. Local governmental officials Roger C. Bunn, Tioga County Commissioner, and Diana Barnes, Superintendent of Northern Tioga School District, joined John L. Augustine III, Community Outreach Manager of the Marcellus Shale Coalition, and Aquatech executives in the ceremonies that included brief presentations, a ribbon cutting and plant tours.
Devesh Mittal, Vice President and General Manager of Aquatech’s Shale Gas Division, said, “Aquatech is committed to delivering added value to our customers through innovative solutions, developed by leveraging our vast experience and ongoing research & development in water treatment technologies. Our Tioga facility clearly demonstrates this commitment by bringing to regional shale gas operators a comprehensive portfolio of services that offers a cost sustainable solution for their water treatment needs.”
The Tioga plant utilizes Aquatech’s MoSuite™ set of technologies to deliver a menu of wastewater treatment and recycle services. MoSuite is an effective combination of MoTreat® and MoVap® process units, a pretreatment and distillation evaporator specifically designed to treat drill fluids, frac flowback, production brine and other wastewaters from exploration and production of conventional and unconventional oil and gas.
This suite of processing units delivers a tiered menu of services including filtration, disinfection, solids handling, pretreatment and evaporation concentration. Customers can choose from a variety of facility service options including treatment for re-use, waste minimization, storage, disposal, water sourcing and logistics. In addition, customized service offerings are available.
“We want to thank members of local government and representatives of the shale gas industry for joining us today as we celebrate the formal opening of this facility. We are dedicated to providing safe and reliable technology solutions to deliver cost sustainable water management that is adaptable to the ever changing needs of the gas producers in the region. This operation provides high quality wastewater treatment that delivers consistent treated water quality and flexible water management solutions to achieve that goal,” said Michael Nawrath, Aquatech’s Sales Manager.
Founded in 1981, Aquatech is based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, which is in the heart of the Marcellus Shale region. Aquatech’s distillation evaporator and crystallization technologies treat all levels of shale oil and gas water and wastewater including high total dissolved solids (TDS) production brine. Globally, the company treats nearly 1,000,000 barrels of oil and gas field produced water per day, helping producers minimize the amount of fresh water used in the well development process and significantly reducing the volume of wastewater that must be disposed or treated off-site. This approach alleviates the burden on local water resources during shale gas exploration.
